Using both painting and drawing, I am expressing myself by composing intriguing, critical and at times humorous work to express the subtler attempts at self examination during paternal compensation.
” Facial Hair” … an accessory men use to define the coming of age, wisdom and status, just to name a few; an accessory completely gender specific this female artist is taking to a whole new level, using it to define her perception of male influence and compensation.
“Skulls with Facial Hair” … taking inspiration from Roger Hupman’s, “El Craneo” (day of the dead) and fusing it with “Facial Hair” each drawing, good naturedly representing paternal loss, has managed to take on its own mood and personality; a possible life after death?
“Teeth” … as defining as a finger print, they create an unusual self portrait, playing with the idea of self importance within the family lineage and self discovery. As the final addition to this triptych of visual anthologies, Teeth completes this unconventional approach to paternal loss and new beginnings.
“Ears” … an off shoot from previous examinations of self importance and identity, Ears compares individualism at it’s most basic level.
